Thana Diwas Organised by Police Station Gharota

Jammu, 10 December 2024 | As part of the public outreach program, “Thana Diwas”, an initiative by the Government of J&K UT aimed at bridging the gap between the police and the public and addressing the grievances of the common masses, was organized by Police Station Gharota in the Gharota area.

The program was chaired by Brijesh Sharma (JKPS), SP Rural Jammu, and attended by Inspector Sunil Sharma, SHO Gharota, Ex Sarpanches, civil society members, and other prominent and respected individuals.

During the event, participants raised various public concerns, which were addressed promptly. It was assured that grievances related to the police would be resolved on priority, while those concerning the civil administration would be forwarded to the relevant departments for quick redressal.

Addressing the gathering, officials emphasized the need to strengthen grassroots-level policing to enhance the efficiency of police personnel and foster greater trust and confidence among the public.

“Community policing is essential for boosting public confidence, which plays a vital role in combating crime and social evils,” the officials stated.

The event also highlighted the urgent need to tackle drug abuse and other social evils plaguing the area. Officers were urged to adopt a proactive and dedicated approach and commit to serving society with integrity and a missionary spirit.

The program concluded with a reaffirmation to prioritize public grievances at the grassroots level and the assurance that such community interactions would continue to be organized across the region. This initiative aims to further strengthen police-public relations and achieve effective policing outcomes.
