Jammu, 04 March 2026 | The Road Safety Club of Government Degree College Sidhra organized a Poster-Making Competition to promote awareness about road safety. Students enthusiastically participated in the competition, showcasing their creativity through impactful posters that highlighted themes such as the use of helmets and seatbelts, avoiding mobile phone usage while driving, adhering to speed limits, and respecting traffic signals.
The initiative encouraged students to become ambassadors of road safety and spread awareness within society. Participants were adjudged by Prof. Deepa Kak, Head of the Department of Education, and Dr. Pooja Sharma, Head of the Department of Dogri, based on creativity, message clarity, and technical execution.
Following the competition, an awareness rally was conducted under the banner of the Road Safety Club. Students marched through various areas of Bain Bajalta, raising slogans and displaying placards to disseminate vital road safety rules. The rally witnessed active participation and drew the attention of local residents.
During the rally, students interacted with the locals of Sidhra and apprised them of essential road safety measures. They emphasized the importance of responsible driving, pedestrian safety, and strict compliance with traffic regulations to reduce road accidents and save lives. The event aimed to sensitize young minds about responsible road behaviour and the importance of following traffic rules to prevent accidents.
The programme concluded with a message reiterating that road safety is a shared responsibility and collective efforts are essential to create safer roads for all. The entire programme was organized by the Road Safety Club under the convenorship of Dr. Meesha Bhagat, Dept. of Political Science, and the able guidance of the senior-most faculty member of the college, Dr. Harpreet Kour.
