Jammu/Udhampur, 28 March 2024 | A three-day awareness program was organized at Government Degree College Udhampur. In a bid to provide the hassle-free experience of the forthcoming centralized admission for the NEP Session 2024-25, the College under the able leadership of Principal Prof (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta. The event was organized to enlighten students on the nuances of the CUET UG Examinations and the University of Jammu admission procedures.
On Day 1st the program started with a special orientation program for the students and administrators of various higher secondary schools of the district. The program commenced with the formal welcome address presented by Prof Sanjeev Kumar, Head Department of Urdu. In his address, he delves into the intricacies of the CUET UG Examinations and sheds light on the University of Jammu’s admission protocols.
Sharing his ideas about the event, the chief patron, Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta, motivated all the participants and encouraged them to be confident in facing the national-level entrance system. Dr Gupta further informed that the CUET entrance examination for admissions to undergraduate programs in over 250 universities including their constituent and affiliated colleges will be held online as Computer Based Test (CBT). He further informed that the deadline to submit the online application has been extended to 31 March 2024. Dr. Banadana Mazal, Head Department of Sericulture, in her speech, encouraged the students to take up unconventional courses relevant to the present age.
In the technical sessions, two resource persons from GDC Udhampur Prof Sanjay Kumar, Head Department of Philosophy, and Prof Tania Akhter, Faculty of English, presented all the aspects of CUET and cleared all the doubts about it. Prof Anoksha Sharma, a member CUET Cell of the college, spoke in detail about CUET 2024, its features, opportunities, subject domains, the preparations of students for any subject of their choice
At the end, Dr Jasmeet Tour, Faculty of Biotechnology tendered the formal vote of thanks. The proceedings of the day-long program were ably conducted by Prof Rajesh Singh Manhas.
On Day 2, the committee visited nearby higher secondary institutions to aware the students about the admission process and CUET Exam 2024 to ensure more participation from students. To ensure more participation from candidates, the Ministry of Education has decided to open CUET (UG) 2024 Examination Help Centres to create awareness among aspiring applicants and help provide equal opportunities to candidates, especially from rural and remote areas. The CUET Committee of the college also apprised students that they need not go to any cyber cafe to fill out their CUET UG 2024 application. The details of these help centers are available at the NTA website and cute.samarth.ac.in. They also informed the students about the counseling cell that will facilitate desirous candidates smoothly.
Furthermore, On the concluding day, a mock activity was organized to make students aware of the pros and cons of the test and, the nature of the exam, in which over 10 lakh students participate annually. Students were also advised to plan their CUET UG 2024 preparation accordingly and must prepare well and study vigorously to score better on the exam. CUET Committee of the college also shared the study plan, Strategy, Time Management techniques, and best books for the above-mentioned test.
