Yoga enthusiasts made first day Competition mesmerizing

Jammu, January 22 | Yoga participants with great enthusiasm came forward for registration for Yoga competition organized by Yoga Society J&K of Patanjali Yogpeeth in association with different yoga bodies falling under Indian Yoga Association at the venue of Shri Guru Gobind Secondary School, Jammu. Qualifying rounds and Prelim rounds took place on the first day of the competition

In this yoga competition, participants have come forward from Jammu Universities, different Govt., Private Schools, individuals from different yoga organizations for this Jammu District level event. Individuals have also participated in age group 9 – 14 years for junior candidates and 15-25 years for senior candidates. Both Boys and Girls have participated individually as well as in group form with a minimum strength of two to maximum six in group participation. Even students of a slum school named Sunrise Educational Trust enthralled the witnessing audience with their spirit of yoga asana skills. Eleven individuals from Jr. category Boys, Four from Jr. girl, Six from Sr. Boys, Eight from Sr. girl are selected for final rounds to be held tomorrow. In group performances, Jr. boys -4, Jr. Girls – 4, Sr. Boys 1, Sr. Girls 2 are selected for the final round. Final rounds shall take place on 23rd Jan 2020. The first winner from these categories will be selected for State level competition.

The traditional lamp was lit by Chief Guest Shiv Kumar Sharma – President Indian Style Wrestling Association J&K along with guest of honour Dr. Taran Singh – Former Med. Supdt. – Govt Ayurveda Hospital, Sardar Harbans Singh – Chairman Shri Guru Gobind Singh Hr Sec. School.

An impressive inaugural ceremony was held with colourful performances by school participants along with mantra chantings and prayers for the welfare of humanity. A Group yoga WELCOME performance was given by students from Heritage School.

Shiv Kumar Sharma – President Indian Style Wrestling Association – J&K appreciated the efforts of Yoga society to give a new platform to Yoga aspirants of J & K – and he inspired the participants to give their best to reach the national level and bring glory to J & K in the field of Yoga too. He said “ We owe a lot to Swami Ramdev ji and our PM Narinder Modi to bring yoga to common masses” and also lauded the efforts of The core team of the organizers who have worked day and night to make this event happen are Mahamnatri Bansi Lal Yoga society J&K, IYA – Chairman Shreyansh Jain, Sudha Chander the organising secretary IYA, Anil Swaraj –Secretary Publicity IYA, Advocate Chander Mohan -Sangrakshak IYA and all other board members IYA.

Shreyansh Jain, Anil Swaraj, Dr. Sujata, Anil Gupta, Prem Lata were the appointed judges for the competition. T C Thappar, Sunil Chakharia, Brij Bhushan, Renu Thapar, Angrez Singh, Lal Singh Nag, Dr. N K Sharma, Dushant Sharma, were the Referees. Meenakshi Bhat and Rajni Saini were scorers.

Students of Bharat Scouts and Guides and members from IYA and other yoga organizations – Raj Guru, Roshan Lal, Dheeraj Singh Rakwal, Sushil Sharma, Yash Pal, Dev Yog Raj, Yog Raj Khajuria, Prem Lata, Shashi Pal Sharma, Suraksha, Priyanka Bhat, Darshana Sharma, Vishal Bhat, Rajni Devi, and several others are the committee members supporting the event.
