Jammu, January 15 | Directorate of Resettlement Zone (North) organized a Resettlement cum Entrepreneurship Seminar for its Veterans and their families at Samba Military Station under the aegis of Gurj Division on 15 January 2020 on the occasion of Veterans Day. The seminar was another step to extend welfare schemes of the Indian Army and government to Veterans, Veer Naris and their families.
Majority of our ESM retire at a young age when their own dreams and responsibilities remain unfulfilled. Considering the fact that jobs in Central/ State/ Private Sector are few and limited, there is a requirement of self-employment opportunities wherein DGR provides guidance and assistance for entrepreneurial ventures. Entrepreneurship is a viable resettlement option for ESM desirous of establishing their own business venture with the help of soft loan/ subsidy available under various Govt schemes.
The seminar emphasized the need for re-orienting ESM towards exploring avenues for self-employment, as opportunities in the organized sectors were dwindling. Director, DRZ (North) delivered a talk on resettlement options including Central/ State Govt jobs and DGR schemes. This was followed by Dist Offr Samba from Khadi & Village Industries Board (KVIB) who brought out the salient details of entrepreneurship options under Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) which is operating with the support from KVIC. Highlights of the scheme wherein only 5% contribution by the veteran of project capital and subsidy of 35% in rural areas was covered.
Subsequently, Dist Offr Samba from Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) Govt of J&K, delivered an interactive talk on various entrepreneurial schemes, the process of registration and subsidies available for the veterans and their dependents. Process of seeking jobs through the Army Welfare Placement Node (AWPN), Jammu was also covered by Dir. Zila Sainik Welfare Officer (ZSWO) Samba covered the process of registration and benefits being extended by KSB and RSB to ESM. In the end, Branch Manager of SBI Bank, Samba gave a talk on the financial management of pensionary benefits for future and guided them to invest their hard owned money judiciously and wisely.
During the interaction, the veterans and their families expressed their sincere gratitude for the efforts being taken by the Army to reach out to them and to address their genuine concerns through various welfare schemes.
