Jammu, December 10: “Passing of Citizens Amendment Bill 2019 by the Lok Sabha gives relief to three generations of minority refugees of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan in India. The government of India deserves full kudos for bringing in legislation to amend the Citizenship Law in India. It is a historic occasion when the spirit of human rights in the context of those whose last resort is India has been upheld. All those migrants and refugees who were forced to come to India after experiencing religious persecution, genocide, ethnic cleansing and extermination in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh have been provided justice by Mother India”, was said by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, BJP state Spokesperson on Kashmir Affairs.
In a statement, Chrungoo maintained that on the occasion of the enactment of the Convention on Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in 1948 by the UN and the subsequent adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on 10th December 1948, the government of India, NDA and BJP have done a great justice to the worst victims of religious persecution, bias and apartheid of non-Muslim minorities in these three countries.
Anyone and everyone who belongs to the people of the Indian origin, and in particular those belonging to the Hindu fraternity living anywhere in the world treat India as their mother country and in case of any difficult situation, they look up to India. It is the paramount duty of the Indian nation and the Indian state to accommodate all such people as the citizens of India in case such people crave for it.
Chrungoo said, “We as a nation cannot allow Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs, Parsis to rot in Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan who have been continuously prosecuted in these nations and are forced to leave their countries. A lot of such refugees were forced to live in Europe, America and India for a long time now”.
The issue of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, Myanmar and Pakistan will eventually be solved with the passage of this Bill. It is an irony that Rohingyas living in various parts of India have been used as the vote bank along with the Bangladeshi illegal immigrants by the political parties in India. In order to detect and deport such people, the CAB will be followed by NRC which is being monitored by the Apex Court.
Chrungoo also made an appeal to the Lt. Governor, administration and the bureaucracy of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir to advice its officers and the executive staff not to involve any Rohingya illegal immigrants in any sort of socio-economic activity or initiative at the cost of public exchequer. All such engagements at an official level will be treated as illegal and immoral in an event of an investigation and verification and those erring officials engaging these illegal immigrants will be held responsible for such an engagement.
