Jammu, December 06 | The Jammu University SC/ST Employees Association organized a special meet here wherein its members paid floral tributes to Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on his 63rd death anniversary.
Speaking on the occasion, the Association President R.L. Kaith said Ambedkar gave an inspiring self-confidence to Dalit. He was in favour of education and equal rights for everyone. He has been regarded as a ray of hope for downtrodden in India. His vision of democracy and equality was closely related to good society, rationality and the scientific outlook. He held that the emancipation of Dalit in India was possible only through the three-pronged approach of education, agitation and organization. Ambedkarism is the great relevance to Indian society to achieve social justice in establishing equality and true democracy added Kaith.
It is very unfortunate that the reservation benefits that had been granted to reserved category communities under the Constitution framed by Baba Saheb were never given to them in time and in toto, said the Association General Secretary Surjeet Singh Heer in his speech. Association members proposed to the Government that a ‘Penalty Clause’ be inserted in the Reservation Rules to ensure timely and full implementation of the reservation policy.
In the end, the Association members strongly demanded an immediate resolution of their issues raised in the memorandum that was submitted to the Vice-Chancellor Professor Manoj K. Dhar on November 25, 2019.
