Jammu, November 19 | Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Fighter’s Association (JKFFA) on Tuesday organised a function to celebrate the Birth Anniversary of Rani Lakshmibai, Jhansi Ki Rani and the iron lady and former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi.
The function was held at Dogra Shaurya Sthal Ambhalla which was organised by Ved Gandotra, JKFFA Chairman and Rajiv Mahajan, JKFFA Vice Chairman.
Municipal Corporator Gaurav Chopra was the chief guest on this occasion.
Floral tributes were paid to the great ladies with showers of the petals by all the members present on the occasion. The Chief Guest and the member highlighted the deeds of the Rani Lakshmibai who started the first freedom struggle against the British Rule.
They said Rani Lakshmibai is a source of inspiration for every Indian. “Her fortitude in the face of adversity and steadfast opposition to colonialism will never be forgotten. It is due to greats like her that India won freedom,” they said.
They also highlighted the life history of Indira Gandhi, who also proved herself in the war with Pakistan in 1971 and was the creator of Bangladesh. They also said that it was Gandhi who exhorted the countrymen to become self-sufficient in every field with hard work. The members also remembered all the Martyrs and the Freedom Fighters and exhorted the countrymen to beware of the enemy within the country and work hard for the unity and prosperity of the nation and also do not fall prey to the religious and regional sentiments fight corruption, terrorism and poverty with hard hands. JKFFA members also distributed sweets among the members and media persons.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Th. Karnail Chand (General Secretary), Brij Mehra (Vice President), Sr. Sukhminder Singh Maini (Finance Secretary), Dr. Yog Raj Padha, Rohit Bajrangi and others.
