Batwal Community seeks early application of Central Reservation Rules to J&K UT.

Jammu, December 01 | The Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association held its general body meeting at Jhiri which was chaired by Association Chairman Kamal Singh Kaith and attended by a huge majority of Batwal Community members.

The meeting demanded an early application of Central Reservation Rules to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Association President Retd Subedar Major Romesh Sargotra while speaking during the meeting said that on August 5, 2019 the Hon’ble Union Minister of Home Shri Amit Shah had stated in the Lok Sabha that the Reservation in Promotion which was not being provided to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the State of Jammu and Kashmir would now soon be made applicable with the Centre repealing the special provisions of Article 370 but even after passage of four months’ time the said relief has not been dispensed to employees of these communities, he added.

The meeting urged the Union Government to pay attention to the matter and very kindly have a notification issued to this effect by the concerned department at its earliest convenience, please.

The meeting also urged the Union Government to refer to Ethnographic Study of J&K Batwals lying with Deputy Registrar General, New Delhi since 1994 and be kind enough to sanction an ‘economic cum employment package’ for them based on its survey report.

Prominent among others who attended the meeting included Retd Captain Om Parkash Tugga, Retd Captain Om Parkash Kaith, Retd Subedar Major Gunni Ram Kaith, Retd Subedar Baldev Chand Sandhu, Retd Havildar Des Raj Kaith, Retd Havildar Uttam Chand Sandhu, Ex Naib Sarpanch Ram Lal Lakhotra, Mela Ram Tugga, Diley Ram Kaith, Gurdas Chand Sargotra, Punnu Ram Kaith, Chaman Lal Kaith, Virender Kaith, Ashok Kumar and Kakki Kumar Kaith.
