Jammu, December 03 | Commissioner Secretary, Forest, Environment and Ecology Department, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi and Joint Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Rambhir Singh held a joint meeting to review the arrangements for forthcoming two-day workshop-cum-exhibition on Bamboo cultivation in Jammu.
The meeting was attended by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Director Social Forestry Department and other senior officers of the department.
During the meeting, it was informed that the Government of Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, GoI will hold a two-day Workshop-cum-Exhibition in Jammu on 11th and 12th of January, 2020.
The Workshop-cum-Exhibition titled “Bamboo-A Wonder Grass – the opportunity for sustainable development in Jammu and Kashmir” is proposed to be held at Kala Kendra, Jammu. The workshop will focus on the promotion of Bamboo cultivation in the potential Kandi areas of Jammu and its value addition as an economic activity and generate employment opportunities.
About 30-40 stalls will be displayed in the exhibition to showcase various Bamboo products, Bamboo based industrial products, species of Bamboo and audio-visual activities.
The Cane & Bamboo Technology Centre, Guwahati has agreed to provide necessary assistance and technological support for the Workshop. The objective of the exhibition will be to develop the value chain of Bamboo in Jammu and Kashmir on the pattern it has been done in the North Eastern States.
