Jammu, November 26 | Govt. College for Women Parade Ground, Jammu celebrated the 70th Anniversary of Constitution Day, as we know that the constitution of India, has a unique significance in the history of Independent India. It was on this day in 1949 that the constitution for the country was Adopted, which came in the force on 26th January 1950, thereby, making the dawn a new era in Indian Political System.
In this connection the Govt. College for Women Parade initiated a series of programmes commencing from 26th of November 2019 which shall culminate on 14th of April 2020 which is the Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R Ambedkar. The basic philosophy behind this kind of programme is to sensitize the students and youth in particular and others in general regarding values enshrined in the constitution.
A large number of students participated in the programme which was marked by reading the preamble of the constitution. The Worthy Secretary of the Higher Education graced the occasion and presented his ideas on the importance of the constitution and he highlighted the importance of fundamental rights and fundamental duties mentioned in the constitution of India. A large number of students took a pledge “that they will spread the message of liberty, equality, rights and justice” as mentioned in the preamble. Subsequently, soon after the pledge, the department of Political Science organized a lecture on the topic of “Importance of Fundamental Rights and duties in Democracy”. Prof. Hansraj Principal of the college presented a welcome address on the occasion.
The lecture was delivered by Prof. Tajudin, former Head and Professor of Post Graduate Department of Political Science, University of Jammu. According to him, the constitution is a soul force of any democratic system and Fundamental rights are the commitment on part of the constitution for its citizens and fundamental duties are colt/mu side of its citizens and those who filled to fulfil this commitment will be e under law. Prof. B.B Anand also spoke on the occasion and highlight& the importance of the constitution, fundamental rights, fundamental duties etc. The department of Political Science of the college has prepared a blueprint for further activities to be held from 26th of November 2019 to 14th of April 2020.
