DDC launches driving training programme for girl students

Jammu (Samba), February 10 | District Development Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria inaugurated driving training programme exclusively for girls at Inspection and Certification Centre, Barian, Samba to promote centrally sponsored scheme “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”.

DDC said that this training course is first of its kind in the Union Territory wherein basic driving skills of all vehicles including with and without gear vehicles shall be provided to the girl students of Government Degree College Samba in a phased manner. He said that in the first batch 20 girl students shall be given the training.

The idea of imparting driving training exclusively for girls was conceived by the District Task Force Committee, BBBP, Chief Planning Officer, Samba Sukhleen Kour.

During the inauguration function, students presented a symposium and songs on the theme “Girl Child Protection and Education”.

Sub- Divisional Magistrate, Vijaypur, C P Kotwal, Assistant Road Transport Officer, Rehana Tabassum, Principal Degree College, Samba Dr. Sushma Mahajan besides district officers and trainees, participants, students were also present on the occasion.
