Batwal Community pays tributes to Martyr Chuni Lal

Jammu, December 06 | The Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association arranged a brief function here in which a large number of Batwal youth attended and paid floral tributes to community’s braveheart Havildar Chuni Lal on his 13th martyr day.

R.L. Kaith who also attended the function as a special invitee mentioned to the youth that Havildar Chuni Lal who hailed from Tacharwan of Akhnoor Sector was a brave soldier of 55 Rashtriya Rifles (Grenadiers). He was killed in a militant flush out operation in Kashmir’s Pulwama Sector in December 2007 and later on, under the orders of the President of the Republic of India Pratibha Singh Patil, the mention of his name in a dispatch by the Chief of the Army Staff, was published in the Gazette of India on November 8, 2008 for displaying most conspicuous bravery, demonstrating battlefield leadership and laying down his life to protect the country.
